Shanghai Grand Theater Shanghai Grand Theater is in the north east of the People”s Square; south to Renming Da Dao Road, west to HuangPi Road, and east to Civicism Building. Shanghai Oriental Art Center People can also take this place as sightseeing special at night. Like a magic work and opposite the Town Hall this building is bright and transparent. Designed by famous Paris architect- Paul Andreu, it is a blossom flower located in the center of Pudong New Area. When at night you will see a huge shining butterfly that is the Shanghai Oriental Art Center. This hall is composed by five segments containing main entrance, a concert hall, an opera house, an auditorium and an exhibition space. It is an art center and itself is a great art work also. Shanghai Yue Ju (Yue Opera) Theater Yue Ju (Yue Opera) is a kind of relatively new drama in southern regions of Yangtze River and is popular in cities such as Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Fujian. It was derived from a kind of story-singing and with a history of 800 years. In order to express emotion the tunes are sweet and beautiful and the performance is vivid and full of local color. Shanghai Yue Opera Theater established in 1955 was made up by two troupes. For many years this theater produced four typical magnum opuses including,《Xi Xiang Ji》,《Hong Lou Meng》, and《Xiang Lin Sao》. 《Liangshanbo Yu zhuyingtai》is the story of Chinese Romeo and Julia as the first color film in China was awarded “Musical Film” in the International Eighth Filmfest in Czechoslovakia. Besides during 80es, it created many good plays including lots of Chinese and western literature masterpieces. Tian Chan Yi Fu Theater (Peking Opera Center) Yi Fu Theater as the oldest and biggest Peking Opera center in Shanghai was built in 1925. It is derived from Tian Chan Theater in 1916 which has a more long history. If you are after Peking Opera in Shanghai, you must go to Yi Fu Theater. Lyceum Theatre Lyceum Theater is one of the oldest theaters in Shanghai which was founded in 1866. It was rebuilt in 1931 and from that time there are 60 years. Shanghai Grand Stage (Shanghai Gymnasium ) Shanghai Grand Stage was from the rebuilt of the Shanghai Gymnasium. The whole building is in the olive shape with two stories. This stage is situated in the south west part of Shanghai in Xuhui district and opposite the first foreign-managed luxury hotel (Hua Ting Hotel & Tower in Shanghai). Shanghai Grand Stage still keeps the gymnasium functions. There is a super large ice stadium where a brand of ice dancers made up by 20 world dancing champions (“Team of Dream” ice dancers) once performed charming dance.
